Guest Lecture

Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institution(APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education in the country. The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organisations.

Project Expo

Among its many extravagant events and workshops, we are organizing a Projects-Expo. In this event, all interested participants will showcase a technical project based on the various technical themes of convention. The most innovative and inquisitive projects will be rewarded with cash prize which will be announced on stage.

Rules and Regulations
1. Maximum number of participants in a team is 5.
2. Abstract should not exceed 1 page.
3. The subject of the mail with the attached abstract ‘19th ISTE National Students’ Convention – Project Expo’.
4. Bring your college Identity-Card & receipt on event day.
5. Bring your necessary equipment for the project setup. If there are any additional requirements, inform us before the 10th of October, 2016 via mail or phone call (+91 9952126466)

7. Persons from different institutions can be a part of the same team. However, one person may not be a part of multiple teams for the same event.

Poster Presentation

Poster presentation is the presentation of research information on a poster. Participants can take part in the event either individually or in teams of three. Posters have to be submitted at iste@vit.ac.in on or before 12th October, 2016 and will be displayed for all to see. Based on the peering review of the abstract, few posters will be selected. For presenting the poster, speakers will be given 3 minutes.

Rules and Regulations
1. The poster should not be consisting of more than 100 words.
2. The poster should be of A2 or A3 size.
3. The poster should be mailed to iste@vit.ac.in before 12th October 16 with a subject: 19th ISTE National Students’ Convention – Poster Presentation.
4. The poster should not be greater than 15 mb.
5. The aspects considered in the competition are :Technical content of the poster , Presentation skills , Poster format and appearance.
6. Only jpgs are to be sent to the given email id.
7. Font to be used in the poster are Times New Roman or Calibri ONLY.
8. Your contact deatils should be mentioned in the bottom right corner of the poster.

Informals

In the informals category, we are organising a set of fun events for which the participants can register on the spot.

Paper Presentation

Paper presentation is the oral summary of an accomplished research study of an empirical or theoretical nature. Participants can take part in the event either individually or in teams of two. Papers have to be submitted at iste@vit.ac.in on or before 8th October, 2016. Based on the peering review of the abstract, few papers will be selected for presentation. For presenting the paper, speakers will be given 8 minutes to present followed by a 2 minutes question answer round.

Rules and Regulations
1. Maximum number of authors is 2.
2. Abstract should not exceed 1 page and paper should not exceed 15 pages.
3. The subject of the mail with the attached abstract and later, the final paper should be ‘19th ISTE National Students’ Convention – Paper Presentation’.
4. Bring your college Identity-Card & receipt on event day.
5. Please bring your PowerPoint presentation on a CD and on a pen-drive.
6. Soft-copies of the submitted paper and PowerPoint presentations must be in the .docx/pdf format.
7. Please Mail your abstract, paper and ppt to: iste@vit.ac.in
8. Please bring 2 hardcopies of the submitted paper on the day of the event.
9. The teams will get 8 minutes for presentation followed by question and answer session.

15. Paper must contain Introduction (abstract), Materials and Methods / Flow Chart, Result and Discussion, Conclusion and References.
16. Paper must contain index, list of figures, list of tables, abstract, introduction, point wise description of subject and conclusion and references.
17. Paper must be preceded by a cover page specifying the title of the paper, names of authors and their college names as also their contact numbers and email ids.
18. Last day to submit soft copy of your report (via e-mail) is: 5th October, 2016.
19. After you have submitted the soft copy, a panel of judges will go through your material and if you are shortlisted to give the presentation, you will be notified via email.
20. The abstract mail should contain abstract, references, your e-mail id and mobile number.
21. The decision of judges will be final and no arguments or appeal will be entertained.

Debate

Amongst many other events, a debating competition will be held where participants will go against each other on the stated themes. Students have to take part as an individual for this event.
Like in every other debate, participants will be divided into ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the given motion and they will battle it out with the help of speeches and rebuttals aiming to win their stance and pass/fail the given motion.

Quiz

For all the quiz enthusiasts, a multi-disciplinary quiz contest is being organised. It’s a team of two event in which both the participants should register separately. The quiz consists of two rounds in which the preliminary round will be a multi-branch oriented quiz and the final round will consist of advanced technical questions.

Code Maze

Codemaze is a coding competition where participants get to showcase their coding skills to get out of the maze of questions. It’s an individual event where you have to solve codes and the correct answers let you find a way out of the maze. The participant who solves the maze the fastest, wins.

CAD Modelling

Computer Aided Design is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models and 2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout of products.
The participants will be given a theme on the spot and will be given 3 hours to create a model from scratch. SolidWorks and AutoCAD are the two softwares that can be used for modelling. Use of internet during the event will not be allowed. The developing and designing will be followed by a 2 minute presentation explaining various features of the model. The participant with the most innovative model/design will be awarded as winner.
